2021 Kia Soul vs 2020 Kia Soul near Detroit
The Kia Soul has been the ultimate hatchback in America for a very long time. Its singular, unmistakable style, youthful interior, and lively drive all combine together to give it a mystique that other hatchbacks lack altogether. If you want a hatchback that’s anything but boring, the 2021 Soul is it. Kia decided to continue serving Detroit Southfield Auburn Hills Novi with that same hatchback charm in 2021, but they wanted to redecorate a bit. There are a few noteworthy tweaks this year that will make your life much easier. Our 2021 Kia Soul vs 2020 Kia Soul near Detroit review will give you the summary on these slight changes.
Exterior – Kia Dealer serving Detroit MI
When you’ve got an “Inferno Red” exterior choice on your new hatchback, you know things are about to get fun in a hurry. Other lively colors on the base model include Mars Orange, Cherry Black, and Sparkling Silver. The contour of the new Soul definitely keeps things lively and spry, but the color options reflect that a good many older people also love the Soul. You can keep it light or crank things up to a party. The S features 16-inch alloy wheels that hint at sportier times ahead in the trim lineup. The GT-line is the full sporty rundown. It boasts 18-inch alloy GT-line wheels, a GT-Line exterior appearance with red accident trim, and a power sunroof with sunshade. And that’s just the beginning of all your exterior gifts. The X-Line comes in available two-tone paint, sports fog lights and roof rails, and has a rugged black exterior body trim with silver sparkles all about. And if you think those two trims are amazing, just remember the EX and Turbo are ahead of THEM. This is a Soul you can really decorate in your own spirit. It’s a much improved feature lineup from 2020.
We could start with the more practical LX and S and still show you a huge improvement over last year’s model. The 101 cubic feet of passenger capacity is really a feat of engineering for KIA. The base model grabs a 7-inch color touchscreen that responds to your every whim. And then there’s the nifty privacy glass that lets you enjoy your ambient light show in peace (if you choose to get it). By the GT-Line and higher, you’re rocking with features like a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel (GT-Line), 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat (EX), heated front seats (EX), and Synthetic leather and cloth seat trim (Turbo). Don’t forget to grab that light show! It’s available with the Harmon Kardon premium audio system, and it nets you dancing speaker lights and a head-up display for premium safety.
Kia Soul Mechanical specs
The Turbo gives you a compact hatchback that rocks out 201 horsepower via a 1.6L turbocharged cylinder. They don’t call that trim “turbo” for nothing. Perhaps even greater than the power, though, is the control you can harness over it. The 7-speed dual clutch transmission available with this engine is a blast to drive with. You’ll feel like there’s no such thing as shifts anymore, as you comfortably accelerate with no detectable glitches. It’s smooth sailing ahead for the Soul. Last year’s Soul was a fun drive as well, and we’d never tell you that it wasn’t, but we feel like the 2021 Soul handles its power better. And don’t forget, you have two other transmission options available, too. The base model gets a 6-speed manual transmission, but you can also get an automatic transmission as well.
Safety – 2021 Kia Soul dealer
Kia has been giving out free rear camera systems right on the base of just about every one of their models in 2021. This is a refreshing departure from other automakers who tend to be ungenerous with their more advanced cameras and driver-assist features. Kia is the exception to the rule. They generously and happily give you features like rear cross traffic alert with avoidance technology right on the second S trim. You’ll also get automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assist on that trim as well, along with blind spot detection tech. By the time you’re to the middle of the trim lineup, the Soul has you covered. You’ll notice that the base model Soul gets a LOT more safety technology than last year’s model.
